How to convert microsieverts to rem
This converts units of an equivalent dose that has already been determined. It does not infer sieverts from grays or estimate individual health risk. Radiation and tissue weighting are not unit factors.
Use x for the value in µSv, b for the intermediate value in Sv, and y for the result in rem.
rem = µSv × 0.000001 ÷ 0.01
Worked examples
10 µSv ≈ 0.001 rem
Step 1: (10 × 0.000001) ≈ 0.00001 Sv.
Step 2: 0.00001 ÷ 0.01 ≈ 0.001 rem.20 µSv ≈ 0.002 rem
Step 1: (20 × 0.000001) ≈ 0.00002 Sv.
Step 2: 0.00002 ÷ 0.01 ≈ 0.002 rem.
Results are rounded to 12 significant digits. Converting units does not increase the precision of the original measurement. Very large or small values outside JavaScript’s finite numeric range are rejected.
About Microsieverts
Microsieverts (µSv) measures radiation equivalent dose under the conventions above. The base value in Sv is (x × 0.000001), where x is the numerical value in µSv. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.
About Rem
Rem (rem) measures radiation equivalent dose under the conventions above. The base value in Sv is (x × 0.01), where x is the numerical value in rem. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.
