How to convert grays per second to rads per second
Radiation here means absorbed-dose rate in Gy/s. It is not radioactivity, exposure, or equivalent-dose rate. Sieverts per time require radiation weighting and cannot be equated to grays per time.
Use x for the value in Gy/s, b for the intermediate value in Gy/s, and y for the result in rad/s.
rad/s = Gy/s ÷ 0.01
Worked examples
10 Gy/s ≈ 1000 rad/s
Step 1: (10 × 1) ≈ 10 Gy/s.
Step 2: 10 ÷ 0.01 ≈ 1000 rad/s.20 Gy/s ≈ 2000 rad/s
Step 1: (20 × 1) ≈ 20 Gy/s.
Step 2: 20 ÷ 0.01 ≈ 2000 rad/s.
Results are rounded to 12 significant digits. Converting units does not increase the precision of the original measurement. Very large or small values outside JavaScript’s finite numeric range are rejected.
About Grays per second
Grays per second (Gy/s) measures radiation under the conventions above. The base value in Gy/s is (x × 1), where x is the numerical value in Gy/s. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.
About Rads per second
Rads per second (rad/s) measures radiation under the conventions above. The base value in Gy/s is (x × 0.01), where x is the numerical value in rad/s. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.
