How to convert microsieverts to millisieverts
This converts units of an equivalent dose that has already been determined. It does not infer sieverts from grays or estimate individual health risk. Radiation and tissue weighting are not unit factors.
Use x for the value in µSv, b for the intermediate value in Sv, and y for the result in mSv.
mSv = µSv × 0.000001 ÷ 0.001
Worked examples
10 µSv ≈ 0.01 mSv
Step 1: (10 × 0.000001) ≈ 0.00001 Sv.
Step 2: 0.00001 ÷ 0.001 ≈ 0.01 mSv.20 µSv ≈ 0.02 mSv
Step 1: (20 × 0.000001) ≈ 0.00002 Sv.
Step 2: 0.00002 ÷ 0.001 ≈ 0.02 mSv.
Results are rounded to 12 significant digits. Converting units does not increase the precision of the original measurement. Very large or small values outside JavaScript’s finite numeric range are rejected.
