How to convert pascals to kilopascals
This changes units only. Gauge and absolute pressures need a known ambient pressure to relate them; the converter does not add atmospheric pressure.
Use x for the value in Pa, b for the intermediate value in Pa, and y for the result in kPa.
kPa = Pa ÷ 1000
Worked examples
10 Pa ≈ 0.01 kPa
Step 1: (10 × 1) ≈ 10 Pa.
Step 2: 10 ÷ 1000 ≈ 0.01 kPa.20 Pa ≈ 0.02 kPa
Step 1: (20 × 1) ≈ 20 Pa.
Step 2: 20 ÷ 1000 ≈ 0.02 kPa.
Results are rounded to 12 significant digits. Converting units does not increase the precision of the original measurement. Very large or small values outside JavaScript’s finite numeric range are rejected.
About Pascals
Pascals (Pa) measures pressure under the conventions above. The base value in Pa is (x × 1), where x is the numerical value in Pa. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.
About Kilopascals
Kilopascals (kPa) measures pressure under the conventions above. The base value in Pa is (x × 1000), where x is the numerical value in kPa. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.
