How to convert kilopascals to bars
This changes units only. Gauge and absolute pressures need a known ambient pressure to relate them; the converter does not add atmospheric pressure.
Use x for the value in kPa, b for the intermediate value in Pa, and y for the result in bar.
bar = kPa × 1000 ÷ 100000
Worked examples
10 kPa ≈ 0.1 bar
Step 1: (10 × 1000) ≈ 10000 Pa.
Step 2: 10000 ÷ 100000 ≈ 0.1 bar.20 kPa ≈ 0.2 bar
Step 1: (20 × 1000) ≈ 20000 Pa.
Step 2: 20000 ÷ 100000 ≈ 0.2 bar.
Results are rounded to 12 significant digits. Converting units does not increase the precision of the original measurement. Very large or small values outside JavaScript’s finite numeric range are rejected.
About Kilopascals
Kilopascals (kPa) measures pressure under the conventions above. The base value in Pa is (x × 1000), where x is the numerical value in kPa. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.
About Bars
Bars (bar) measures pressure under the conventions above. The base value in Pa is (x × 100000), where x is the numerical value in bar. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.
