Radiation Absorbed Dose / µGy → rad
Convert Micrograys to Rads
Convert absorbed ionizing-radiation energy per mass in grays and rads. Convert Micrograys (µGy) to Rads (rad). Find the formula, worked examples, unit definitions, and practical guidance below.
How to convert micrograys to rads
One gray is one joule deposited per kilogram; one rad is 0.01 gray. Equivalent dose in sieverts incorporates radiation weighting and belongs to a separate calculator.
Use x for the value in µGy, b for the intermediate value in Gy, and y for the result in rad.
rad = µGy × 0.000001 ÷ 0.01
Worked examples
10 µGy ≈ 0.001 rad
Step 1: (10 × 0.000001) ≈ 0.00001 Gy.
Step 2: 0.00001 ÷ 0.01 ≈ 0.001 rad.20 µGy ≈ 0.002 rad
Step 1: (20 × 0.000001) ≈ 0.00002 Gy.
Step 2: 0.00002 ÷ 0.01 ≈ 0.002 rad.
Results are rounded to 12 significant digits. Converting units does not increase the precision of the original measurement. Very large or small values outside JavaScript’s finite numeric range are rejected.
About Micrograys
Micrograys (µGy) measures radiation absorbed dose under the conventions above. The base value in Gy is (x × 0.000001), where x is the numerical value in µGy. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.
About Rads
Rads (rad) measures radiation absorbed dose under the conventions above. The base value in Gy is (x × 0.01), where x is the numerical value in rad. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.
