How to convert micro units to nano units

Prefixes scale the same underlying unit. These are decimal factors, not binary storage prefixes. For squared or cubed units, apply the prefix power to the entire prefixed unit separately.

Use x for the value in µ, b for the intermediate value in (unit), and y for the result in n.

n = µ × 0.000001 ÷ 1e-9

Worked examples

  • 10 µ ≈ 10000 n

    Step 1: (10 × 0.000001) ≈ 0.00001 (unit).
    Step 2: 0.00001 ÷ 1e-9 ≈ 10000 n.

  • 20 µ ≈ 20000 n

    Step 1: (20 × 0.000001) ≈ 0.00002 (unit).
    Step 2: 0.00002 ÷ 1e-9 ≈ 20000 n.

Results are rounded to 12 significant digits. Converting units does not increase the precision of the original measurement. Very large or small values outside JavaScript’s finite numeric range are rejected.

About Micro units

Micro units (µ) measures prefixes under the conventions above. The base value in (unit) is (x × 0.000001), where x is the numerical value in µ. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.

About Nano units

Nano units (n) measures prefixes under the conventions above. The base value in (unit) is (x × 1e-9), where x is the numerical value in n. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.
