How to convert picofarads to nanofarads
Capacitance is charge per potential difference. Older CGS electrostatic units with geometric names are excluded to avoid mixing unit systems. Values do not account for tolerance or voltage dependence.
Use x for the value in pF, b for the intermediate value in F, and y for the result in nF.
nF = pF × 1e-12 ÷ 1e-9
Worked examples
10 pF ≈ 0.01 nF
Step 1: (10 × 1e-12) ≈ 1e-11 F.
Step 2: 1e-11 ÷ 1e-9 ≈ 0.01 nF.20 pF ≈ 0.02 nF
Step 1: (20 × 1e-12) ≈ 2e-11 F.
Step 2: 2e-11 ÷ 1e-9 ≈ 0.02 nF.
Results are rounded to 12 significant digits. Converting units does not increase the precision of the original measurement. Very large or small values outside JavaScript’s finite numeric range are rejected.
About Picofarads
Picofarads (pF) measures electrostatic capacitance under the conventions above. The base value in F is (x × 1e-12), where x is the numerical value in pF. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.
About Nanofarads
Nanofarads (nF) measures electrostatic capacitance under the conventions above. The base value in F is (x × 1e-9), where x is the numerical value in nF. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.
