How to convert ampere-hours to coulombs
Charge is current integrated over time. An ampere-hour is exactly 3600 coulombs. Battery energy additionally depends on voltage and cannot be found from charge alone.
Use x for the value in A·h, b for the intermediate value in C, and y for the result in C.
C = A·h × 3600
Worked examples
10 A·h ≈ 36000 C
Step 1: (10 × 3600) ≈ 36000 C.
Step 2: 36000 ÷ 1 ≈ 36000 C.20 A·h ≈ 72000 C
Step 1: (20 × 3600) ≈ 72000 C.
Step 2: 72000 ÷ 1 ≈ 72000 C.
Results are rounded to 12 significant digits. Converting units does not increase the precision of the original measurement. Very large or small values outside JavaScript’s finite numeric range are rejected.
About Ampere-hours
Ampere-hours (A·h) measures charge under the conventions above. The base value in C is (x × 3600), where x is the numerical value in A·h. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.
About Coulombs
Coulombs (C) measures charge under the conventions above. The base value in C is (x × 1), where x is the numerical value in C. Factors shown here are rounded for display; calculations use the stored factor.
